Choosing a Home Improvement Contractor: Three Things That Should Worry You

Hiring a contractor to handle your home improvement projects can seem like nearly as much work as doing the job yourself, sometimes. It?s a pretty serious undertaking that requires checking references, comparing prices and a host of other tasks.
It?s worth the effort, though. It?s the best way to protect your house and your pocketbook from those nefarious contractors who promise a lot more than they can ever delivery.
In order to help you choose the right contractor, here are a few warning signs about which you should be aware.
First, any contractor who?s making the rounds knocking on doors in hopes of finding work probably isn?t the best person for the job. Legitimate contractors don?t run their operations like an old-school vacuum salesman.
Second, anyone who claims that like to do your job at a deep discount so that you can be a ?model? or ?example? home should worry you. This technique is often used to convince people to hire a contractor they otherwise wouldn?t.
Finally, beware of a contractor who claims to have ?left over materials? that can be used to get your job done. This is another way the bad guys find clients by offering impossibly good deals that they ?explain? with this kind of coincidence.
